He Gets Me ...

These are the lyrics to a song by Zoegirl that I really, really like ... and my theme song for today ... because when I feel that no one else "gets me" ... He does! And understands!

yep ... cool

You Get Me

Verse -
Wonderful is what I perceived this life would be
Pain and problem free
But over time I found reality
And through it all I see
That You're the only One who gets me

Chorus -
I may be misunderstood `cause I wouldn't ever fake it
You're the only One who understands my pain
`Cause You get me
Doesn't matter what they do, what they think, what they say
At the end of the day I'm okay, anyway`Cause Lord, You get me

Verse -
No more tears
It's a silent night
You've broken down all fear
`Cause You've invaded all of me
You know me better than I know myself
The key to my security
There is no one else who gets me

bridge -
I don't care what the world may say
I hear You call me by name
And I reach for You, reach for You
There is nothing that I'd rather do
Than just worship You, Lord
I'm gonna worship You, worship You

I'm okay, I'm okay
I'm okay, I'm okay
You understand me so completely
Now I am free, Lord, You get me

..........

busy weekend ... very tired ... and lots to do today ... it's "surprisingly" called MONDAY! (pun intended)

I Won The Lottery ...

I now know that you don't HAVE to wait at an eye doctor's visit for two hours!

Today ... was totally a "fluke" and according to my doc - says it will probably never happen again! - ha!

I had an appt. at 8:25am this morning ... Nate had me there at 8:15am ...

I walked in ... signed my name at the window and the lady said, "thanks, you can come on in" ...

WHAT?!??!?!
You mean I don't have to sit and read your "out of date" magazines and glaucoma brochures for the next 45 minutes before you call me back?

crazy ...

the nurse does "her thing" ... and then dilates my eyes out the wazoo ... and sends me out to the waiting room "to dilate" ...

usually I sit and wait 20-30 minutes before they call me back again ...

less than 5 minutes later, they call me back in ... WHAT??!?!!??

(but I'm not fully dilated) ...

they took me to a different room and said, "he'll be right in"

oh my goodness ... did I win the Retinopathy Patient Lottery? And I get to zoom through this horrible process without the added "wait" time?!

two minutes tops, he's in the room ...

I'm astonished ...

and all I can say is "we've made history today" ... ha!

he of course questioned my statement ...

and he agreed ... this was a fluke and would probably never happen again!

oh well ...

we'll just act like we won the "Retinopathy Patient Lottery" and get on with our day ... knowing this will never happen again!

crazy ...

yep ...

but ... was happy I didn't have to wait today!

got there at 8:15 ... was at the front door waiting for my ride (can't drive afterwards) at 8:40 ... CRAZY ...

so ... report is ... new bleeds in both eyes ... there is some pulling on my retina in the right eye - which is being closely followed ... (and might require corrective dreaded surgery that has been put off for good behavior) ... go back in 3 months unless "something happens" ...

yada, yada, yada ...

however ... VERY grateful for this report ... my prayer "once again" was that all would be well "for now" ...

isn't "later" always better than "now" ?

hmmm ... in some cases - I think so ... and this is one of them ...

not in the mood for hospital admission, anesthesia, corrective surgery, and taking a chance of vision loss ...

not today anyway ...

Looking For The Right Word, But Just Can't Seem To Find It kind of day ...

I'm sure every mother and/or father has experienced "a moment" such as we had yesterday ...

but when it happens to you ... it's almost as if ... if you tried to explain "the moment" you wouldn't be able to in fear of not finding the "just right" word to describe it!

Yesterday ... I came to my office area, sat down at the desk to "begin my day" working ... and there was a small note laying beside the keyboard ...

LeAnna is always writing notes and "using my office things" ... so at first, I didn't think much about it ...

then I picked up the envelope and it was sealed ... it had my name on it ... so I opened it ...

it was a card from LeAnna and she had also picked a flower off the Bradford Pear tree outside and laid it beside the envelope ...

it simply said ...

"I love you Mommy" ...

but how sweet and thoughtful ...

made my day!

Then ... Nate called ... and said ... you won't believe what I found in my truck this morning ...

a "sealed" envelope and a flower laying in the truck ... his said the same thing ...

"I love you Daddy" ...

oh my ... we were definitely touched ... that she took the time to make the cards, pick the flowers and then leave them in "spots" that we would find "later" after she was gone to school.

Yep ...

definitely one of LeAnna's Mom's Moments kind of day!

and yep ... was hard to find words to describe what we felt ...

Thanks LeAnna bug for "deep thought" into such a small action that MORE than made our day!

yep ... it's hanging on the cork board in my office ...

it's the "little things" like this - that seem to always come at the right time ... almost as if God himself dropped us a little reminder of "true love" through our very own little blessing named LeAnna.

A Pfunky Experience ...

Tried a new place today ...

Karla and I "try" to do breakfast once a week - lately that hasn't happened ... so we're trying to start that tradition back up ...

anyhoo ...

We like to try "different" and "unique" places ...

well ...

think we found it!

We went to the ...

It's like the coolest place ever! I didn't realize until I got there that it is spelled with a "pf" instead of "f" ... ha! Interesting story (talked with the owner while we were there) ... the owners name is Penelope Pfutner - thus the "pfunky" name!

I have to admit the "novelty" of it overtook me for a bit! - ha!

it was SO weird having a griddle in the middle of the table ... and on top of that ... fixing it myself!

- which I didn't mind ... at least it's "my spittle" on the food if I so choose! - ha

anyhoo ...
they bring out the batter, spatulas, plates, cooking spray ... everything you would need to "cook"!
... neat place ...

they are open everyday except Monday ... and Saturday and Sunday are usually standing room only ...

- breakfast 'pancakes' are the specialty ... and then an array of other breakfast items ... including biscuit and gravy ... cinnamon laced batter and freshly baked wheat bread to make your own french toast!!!!!!!

We had all you can eat pancakes + one topping for $6.99

this topping was fresh blueberry ...

They serve Organic 5-grain batter and unbleached white batter pancake mix ... and you have a choice of at least 12-15 different toppings that included fruit, nuts, chocolates, etc. ...

they bring the toppings out in a bowl and you prepare it all at YOUR convenience ...
I ordered eggs, bacon and pancakes ...

so ... the waiter brings out two eggs in a bowl and and sat them on the table ... and said, "you cook them"

alrighty then!

I hate to admit it - but I did ask the waiter if I could split the tip with him! (was only poking fun)

It was so weird cracking eggs at the table and frying them on the griddle ... it was like I was doing something I wasn't supposed to be doing ... but -very cool concept and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

"at a restaurant" I'm so used to the waiter/waitress bringing my food out all at one time, HOT ... so I really had to stop and think about it ... I want my eggs hot, my bacon hot and my pancakes hot all at the same time ... hmmm ... it was quick simple planning ... but not a big deal and was fun ... (just didn't want my eggs running into the pancakes ... OR Karla's food - ha! - one table shares one griddle - so planning is essential)

Anyhoo ... would totally recommend it if you're looking for something "fun", "different", and "unique" in a dining experience!

They are open until 3pm and serve a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches as well for lunch - and all the sandwiches are "panini'ed"!

Very cool ...

Definitely TOP of our list for a breakfast adventure!

Joining the Gym and Cutting the Grass ...

Today ... Mom joined the gym!

The doc told her yesterday that the best thing for her "in addition" to her two hours of exercise EVERY day PLUS two hours of PT three times a week ... was the bicycle and the pool!

Okay ... I don't know about you ... but the "average" person (meaning: has a full time job, children, husband, etc.) couldn't deal with this "exercise program" ...

All Mom does is exercise!

BUT ... for a very good and worthy cause!

If she were working right now ... she would NOT be able to keep up with this type of exercise schedule ... AND Aunt Betty keeps her in line! EVERY morning ... EVERY evening ... hour at a time ... they do their "memorized" list of exercises!

She found great pleasure in the pool today ... and then the sauna ... and tomorrow -the hot tub!

Whoo-hoo ...

I enjoyed the pool myself today! It's easier to exercise in the pool when there is someone else with you ... the time passes quicker ...

today Nate mowed the yard ... hmmm ... sounds pretty "normal" ... however ... it was the first time this year ... which means to me ... Spring is finally happening around here in the yard ... and the smell ... mmmm ... love the smell of fresh cut grass ... and, we have some flowers blooming here and there ...

I like ...

Six Week Check-Up ...

Today ... Mom had her six week post op check-up with the surgeon.

She got an A+ ... yea! He was so proud of her ... he asked her where her cane was and what she walked in with ... she said, "nothing" ... and she hasn't even used her walker for two weeks! He gave her a high-five!

We were so proud ...

However ... due to muscle weakness from her waiting about a year and a half past what she should have waited to have this surgery, he prescribed 4 more weeks of physical therapy! Then she goes back to see him in six weeks ...

Definitely been a long road and will continue to be a long process ... but her persistence is paying off and she is doing well.

Yea Mom!

It's Doris Mays Day ...

Today we celebrated Nathan's grandmother's birthday ...

Granny Mays ...

Happy Birthday Granny - we love you!!!!

More than a bunny, candy, and colored eggs ...

Easter ... 2008!

it came upon us very quick this year! which makes me feel like this year is just zooming by us already!

Easter Sunday Morning ... it's different than ordinary Sunday mornings ...

the hustle and bustle of "checking for a basket" on the front porch ... making sure the Easter dress is pressed just right ... new socks are laid out ... new "white" shoes are set out beside the socks ... purse is packed and ready to go (which she accidentally left laying on the couch and had a meltdown on the way to church because of it) ... a few pictures are taken with the "basket" and in the new dress before we rush out the door to attend church ...

there is an anticipation in the air on an Easter Sunday morning ... mainly for the mere fact of reflection of our Savior's resurrection .... (however ... this morning in Sunday School ... one of our dear 3 years olds "when asked who we're celebrating rising from the dead today" proudly stated "The Easter Bunny") ha! too cute ... bless his heart ...

Yes ... something different about an Easter Sunday Morning ... almost like a annual renewed respect of what Jesus did for us ... although we should think about what He did for us every Sunday (all the time for that matter) ... and not that we don't ... just a day set aside to "remember" ...

and ... to me ... so sad ... that some folks only choose to remember Him twice a year ... "His birth" and "His Resurrection" ...

I'm sure most churches had way more than there "normal" attendance ... we did ... and that was with a lot of our "regulars" out.

God forgive us that we would choose to reflect on what He did for us just twice a year! ...

so sad.

but true for some.

I trust that you enjoyed your day and truly hope that it meant more to you than just an Easter Bunny, a basket of candy, and some colored eggs.

Our "only" Hope is who we remember today and the sacrifice that He gave.

What's Your Speed?

How fast can you type?
At one point in my life, I typed 95 wpm with no errors ...

In testing this evening ... I'm at 82 wpm ... I need some practice!

In Serious Need Of A Treehouse ...

We have a new place in Bellevue for kids ... and I am SO excited about it! They had sent out a flyer a month or so ago and today, I decided to look up their website ... (actually attempted to do so when the flyer arrived, but it wasn't up and running) ... so I checked them out ... WOW!!! I am impressed!

It's called "The Monkeys Tree house" ... it's all inside and interactive ... they have two huge tree houses inside to play in, a large sandbox, an art room, interactive grocery store ... dinosaur table, and tons of other things ... but I guess what impressed me the most ... was that they clean and sanitize 15 minutes out of every hour! WHAT??!?!?!?! that's like unheard of!!!! AND they promise to keep the bathrooms cleaned at all times! another WHAT?!?!?!!?

definitely impressed!

The place is owned by two mom's in Bellevue who have four children under the age of 6 ... so this idea they've had in the making for several years now, finally happened and it's based on "what they would do if they had their own play place" ...

love it!

AND ... they do birthday parties!!

AND ... you can't drop your kids of (of course) a guardian must be present at all times ... HOWEVER, it's 4,800 square feet of open space and they have TV and Internet to occupy the adults while the kids play!

kids 9 months to 11 years old are $7 ... all day - come and go (that's super cool!) and newborn to 8 months and 12 years old and older are free!

nifty ...

Definitely checking it out this week on Spring break!!!

I was super busy yesterday after a super busy weekend ... so hopefully the rest of the week will slow down a bit ... however ... it's Spring Break ... so LeAnna is wanting to do "something" for Spring Break ... and we aren't going anywhere, trip wise ... and trying to work plus have time set aside for her ... gotta make it happen though ... right now she's at Nana's having a scavenger hunt ... Mom (in her spare time) hee hee and Aunt Betty created a scavenger hunt to keep her busy this morning ... that was so nice ...

I however ... have lots of work to do ... AND have to tear down the studio and clean up the bonus room ... I made the mistake of using "easter grass" as part of a prop yesterday AND also red and black feather boa's ... needless to say ... the grass stopped up my vacuum cleaner and the feather boa material was statically clung to my white vinyl back drop AND the carpet ... yep ... Nate's comment was ... "bet you'll never do that again" ... as I was on my hands and knees picking up tiny pieces of feather embedded in the carpet ...

oh well ... we live and learn ... and I learned that feather boa and berber don't mix well together ...

The Hunt ...

Friday ... was LeAnna's Easter egg hunt at school ... I would have posted before now ... but I took pictures all weekend ... starting with Friday evening ... and I have two more children in the morning ...

busy ... busy ...

and ... LeAnna teetered on not feeling well this weekend ... we kept her in all day Saturday and she was much better today ...

so ... hunt at school ... went well ... was windy, and very cloudy ... oh yeah ... and did I mention muddy? yep ... hunt was outside ... oh well ... made some memories! And the kids got to play on a playground that they normally don't get to play on ... so they were over excited ... the mega icing sugar cookies and fruit punch REALLY calmed them before the "new playground" experience ...oh yeah ... and that was all after the egg hunt!

yikes!

oh well ... the teachers are very smart ...they did all this right before dismissal ... =0)

Mom went to church this morning for a little while ... she had to leave early ... but at least she got to go ... that was exciting to her! She's getting better everyday! She still has "torture sessions" for the next 4-5 weeks, three times a week ... we cry with her when she's there! Horrible .... but gotta happen to keep that scar tissue ripped and keep her from getting stiff ... all in all, she's doing good ... it's been 5 weeks now since surgery ...

I have SO much to do before I close my peepers tonight ...

happy day ... tammy

Opportunity for the Ultimate Responsibility ...

March 13th ... has special memory for me ...

Seven years ago today ... I "reluctantly" tore open ANOTHER, one of many, pregnancy tests ... and ...

waited ...

three minutes can seem like an eternity when you are dying to know if it's YES or ANOTHER big fat NO!

... to my surprise ...

there were two lines ... not one line.

WOW!!!

I was SO happy ... and I didn't want anyone to know ... that I opened my mouth, but suppressed the sound and jumped up and down ... (I was in the bathroom in front of the mirror - remember it vividly)

here I was ... all by myself ... with a two-line, positive pregnancy stick AGAIN (many miscarriages) ... and I was celebrating this information with me, myself and I!

... on purpose though ... I wanted to surprise Nathan in a creative way ...

well ... I couldn't WAIT long enough to be that creative ...

so ...

I typed up a card on the computer, put it in a shoe box (he loves new tennis shoes) and laid the positive pregnancy stick in it as well ... I placed the box on the bed, on his side ... and waited for him to find it.

I think he must have been in a weird mood ... maybe he wasn't feeling his best ... I don't know ... who knows ... but when he got ready to get in bed, he saw the box and said ... "WHAT? a pair of shoes? I don't need anymore shoes" (boy he pegged that one right!)

I said ... just open the box (thinking - maybe I should have been more creative) ...

he opened it and read the card ... it's like it didn't make sense ... then he saw the two-line, positive pregnancy stick ... he still didn't understand ... I had to explain that "two-lines" meant you were pregnant! His mouth fell open and he could hardly speak!

It was a very special moment ...

then ...

we waited ...

more waiting ... AGAIN!

This was my 5th "known" pregnancy ... so I was on pins and needles during the waiting period!

The doctor decided to put me on a medication to "trick" my body into thinking that the baby was NOT a foreign object so it wouldn't attack it (as it had done before) ...

the meds worked (of course) ...

and we have a LeAnna!

So ... back to today ... seven years later ...

I tear up at the smallest of things that she does ... makes ... says ... etc ... I fight SO hard to hold back those tears ... I don't want to seem like all I do is sit and weep!

But when you wait as long as I did and DREAM of having your very own moments to share with your very own child instead of "borrowing" everyone else's moments with their children ... because you think it will never happen to you ... I guess that's why I feel this way. And I try SO hard to not take any moment for granted ...

In my private time this morning ... I thanked God for the opportunity he did give me ... and that was to be a mother ...

Sometimes I feel like I don't do it right ... but I try ...

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only mother who participates in all the parties and all the functions at school ... all the kids know my name now ... it's not just "LeAnna's Mom" anymore ... I'm Ms. Tammy ... but they see my face very often! =0)

I "almost" got upset at the fact that I can't get ANY volunteers to help me tomorrow - hide Easter eggs for 'the hunt' ... but the more I think about it ... "who cares!" ... I'm just happy to have the opportunity to hide eggs ...

hide eggs, color, read books, play house, cook together ...

just thankful today for my "opportunity" ...

Me ... the dumb patient who can barely control her diabetes in a normal range, who begged WAY more than 100 million times for a child - not REALLY knowing what all it entails being a parent ... yet, God entrusted me to care for a child - to raise her right, teach her "the golden rules", teach her that the most important thing she will ever do in life is know Him ...

Wow! What a responsibility -when you stop and think about it ... because as parents ... we are accountable for them, their souls ... until they are of age to understand ... and once that happens ... what they've learned (by us telling them or by example) is what molds them into who they're going to be ...

AAHHHHH ...

have I said enough? done enough? been an example enough (in a positive way)? have I loved enough?

I'll never really know ... until years have passed and she is left sitting in the same seat I am ... wondering the same things about her own children.

yep ... heavy heart today ...

happy for March 13, 2001 ...

happy for March 13, 2008 ...

loving the loving and enjoying every minute of it!

A Day of Torture, A.Y.C.E. Fish and Steroids!

A swirl of activity around here ...

Monday ... was Mom's first time out of the house ... her physical therapy started "outside" the home ... TWO HOURS later she walked back into the house! yikes! Very rough that first day there ... we thought ... "first day ... lots of paperwork, chatting, laughing, getting to know you - type of visit" ... NOT in Star Physical Therapy's opinion! It was more like ... "first day ... lots of paperwork, chatting ... crying ... bending ... riding the spin bike ... crying ... screaming some ... pushing past your EVERY limit ... crying some more ... stretching ... grimacing ... type of visit"

Yikes! Her two hour visit was more like a two hour torture session ... HOWEVER, afterwards ... they laid her on a massage table, attached electrical muscle stimulants, propped her legs up on poofy wedges, wrapped her legs in ice and let her relax for about 15 minutes!

My comment to the nice torturer staff member was ... "man ... you guys about kill them in the beginning, but at least you soften up in the end" ... she just smiled.

eek ...

It was so bad that we popped another pain pill in her mouth while we were there! I searched through my purse and the only "food" I had to follow the pill was an old chocolate peppermint patty mint ... she grabbed it out of my hand and popped it in her mouth ... bless her heart ... desperate times call for desperate measures ...

After arriving home and resting a bit ... she decided that "getting out" was easier than she thought ... SO ... she decided she wanted to go "out to eat" for dinner ... and she was craving fish ... Paradise Ridge Grill has *A.Y.C.E fish on Monday nights ... so that's where we went ... she seemed to enjoy being out ... but was READY to go before the meal was finished ... it's hard for her to do anything for more than 15 minutes at a time ... so she's up and down a lot.

Doing MUCH better though ... very proud of her ...

Yesterday ... LeAnna woke up sounding like the penguin on Toy Story ... (can't remember his name) ... the way he sounded when his squeaker messed up .... anyhoo ... it sounded like she did two years ago when she had the croup ... and this was a high pitched wheezing type noise ...

we put her in the hot shower - this helped some ... sent her on to school ... called the doc as a precautionary ... "no talking on the phone - bring her in" ... they seem to be more concerned with her due to her being a "heart patient" ... so even for minor things, we have to be a bit more concerned ...

anyhoo ... that meant "out of school early" ... we got to our appointment 15 minutes early and still had to wait an hour! (not fun) ... especially when you drop everything you are in the middle of to get dressed and rush there!

after the examination ... she said she had the beginning stages of the croup/whooping cough ... basically the bronchial tubes become inflamed and swell, which makes it a little harder to breathe which produces the 'wheezy' sound ... so she zipped our prescription over to Walgreens from her nifty palm pilot which she whisked out of her pocket (technology is great) and sent us on our way ...

we made a quick stop at the mall for some necessary items ... hosiery, a new head band and a new pair of sunglasses ... (not sure how 'necessary' those were)

then off to Walgreens ... where I had a total mouth flop open and stay there - can't close it - experience! They put her on steroids - five days worth, but said it might only take 2-3 days worth! When they gave me MY amount AFTER the insurance had paid their part ... that's when the "experience" happened! I think my reaction was so noticeable that the lady at the counter said, "mam, is there a problem? I can call your doctor and see if she can have generic ... would you like for me to do that? Mam? (my mouth is still open, and I'm unable to speak) ... finally after tossing the thoughts around in my head of "does she really need this medicine, can we do without it ... WHAT?!?!?! DUMB thoughts - they were immediately dismissed) and I said ... no mam, no problem, no, don't call the doctor, I'll pay ...

This medicine better cure every ailment ... ha!

After reading the attached "info" on the medicine ... the following instructions intrigued me ... "wash your hands and dry them thoroughly, DO NOT push through the foil, peel the foil back, put in mouth immediately, DO NOT chew, only swallow or allow to dissolve on tongue, do not allow meds to be in sunlight, keep in a dark place at a temperature between 68-72 degrees" and tons of more info and precautionaries ... I felt like I was handling nuclear medicine ...

anyhoo ...

the medicine has weird side effects ... so she had trouble going to sleep and then woke up in the middle of the night with sleeping issues ...

definitely will give it to her earlier today ...

She's better this morning ... hopefully, she'll only need one more dose!

Just another "day in the life" ... always interesting, to us anyway ... it's rare we get bored.

so much to do today - not sure what to do first ...

(*A.Y.C.E. - all you can eat)

happy day ... tammy

7 Random Facts ...

I got tagged by several people over the weekend, but I think it originated with Tracy ...

consider yourself "tagged" ... feel free to list your 7 in the comment section ...

For some "odd" reason - I noted "weird" facts about myself ... guess I'm just odd and weird!

1. I smell everything! Embarrassing at times … major habit

2. I still eat Spaghetti O’s sometimes for lunch (a childhood food for me) and EVERY TIME I eat them, I always think of childhood memories.

3. I played with boy toys when I was a kid … I had my own matchbox cars collector box full of cars. I also played with army men (had tons of little green men). Was a tomboy growing up.

4. I missed the first three weeks of third grade … I was diagnosed with diabetes in August, 1978 and was in the hospital for two weeks and two days. This August will be 30 years for me as a diabetic.

5. I wash my hands a lot. When washing my hands, I have technique – I always get 2 squirts of soap and use 3 paper towels per washing. Dumb – I know.

6. I use WAY too many paper towels (slight ocd issue with them) – forgive me “green” friends.

7. When preparing a dish that calls for eggs, beaten … I have a VERY old mauve colored Tupperware bowl (if clean and available, if not a cereal bowl) that I crack the eggs into and beat them with a fork before pouring into my dish. It is VERY hard for me to just crack an egg into my dish without doing this. I know – weird.

So this week is a very busy week ... I actually created a 'to do' list just so I wouldn't forget and I could cross them off. (this is nothing new, I do this often ... love lists) - guess that would be #8

happy day everybody! tammy
