A Day Of New ...

Craz-eee - biz-eee ...

I had a client today at the Bicentennial Mall ... very interesting place ... I have never been there and it is such a cool place ... definitely want to go back ... can't believe I haven't experienced this before ... check it out here

Mom ... returned the "crock pot" ... the business - "Linens N' Things" in Rivergate ... they were very kind to her ... and yes, they believed her ... and were very sorry ... they didn't even ask for her receipt! Mom asked them if they "look" in returned boxes upon return ... and the guy said, "normally, yes" ...oh well ... Mom said ... "I bet you will from now on for sure!" ...

So ... she returned home with her brand new crock pot ... BUT not before opening it at the front counter and pulling every piece out and checking it ... it was packed so tight, they had trouble getting it all back in the box to close properly ...oh well ... she wasn't about to leave without doing so ... and rightly so ...

Went to the Bound'ry for dinner this evening with friends ... we sat outside at a table with a fire pit ... beautiful night for it ... had a great time ... ambiance was very nice ... "another" never been there, but want to go back. Here's their info

And ... doing breakfast with Karla in the morning ... at a new place called Fido's ... "another" new place for me ... their info

hmmm ... I suddenly feel like a "tourist" ...

ha ...
oh well ... a day of "new"

It's A Crazy Life ... but ... It's my life.

Okay ...

so ...

last night before bed ... had our clothes laid out and ready ... lunches packed .... backpack packed and ready to grab on the way out the door ... it's the big field trip to the Renaissance Center in Dickson Tuesday morning ...

However ...

LeAnna woke up with a headache ... which turned into more of a migraine ... she was hurting so bad she was crying and complaining a little too much for my comfort level ... she doesn't do this very often ... so I was worried ... I had NO Tylenol in the house ... but I had Motrin ... hmmm ... well ... she didn't want to eat ... I got two bites of cereal down her ... which ended up not being enough I guess ... she took the Motrin and went and laid down ... Motrin is SO hard on your tummy on an empty stomach.

I called the teacher to explain what was going on ... she was expecting me to take pictures today of the kids for the scrapbooks she's making to give each child at the end of the year (thus the reason I'm at school a lot taking pics) ...

no answer ... so I left a message and my number for her to call ...

well ... the phone rang and it was her ... however ... I was in the bathroom with LeAnna holding a cold rag on her head while she was throwing up!!!!! Bless her heart ... eek ...

So ... got her settled back in bed ... and called her back ...

once again ... had to leave a message ... and "again" ... told her that I wasn't sure if I would make it I would have to see ... but to call me and give me details of what to do about our tickets, etc. ... and left my number "again" ...

Now ... a knock at the back door ...

it's Aunt Betty ... coming over to tell me that LeAnna's teacher keeps calling at Mom's house!

ha! oh my dear goodness ...

remember my last couple of days? CRAZY Monsoon!!!

well ...

the number that I gave the teacher to call me back? Was MOM'S ...

Not ONCE ... but TWICE folks!

How dumb is that?!!?!??!

Yep ... definitely feeling the effects of my downpour ...

Anyhoo ...

She got sick a few times ... but after the headache went away, she was fine ... and has been eating normal since lunch and feeling fine ...

YIKES!!!!

Always "something" ...

My life is SO boring ... I just don't understand why we never have any excitement or anything out of the ordinary happen around here!!!

Such a boring life ...

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH ....

anyhoo ...

the day started getting better ...

LeAnna started feeling better ... and I even got a call today about the Condo ... Woo-Hoo ...

The taxes however, have bummed us ... BUT ... Nate decided to contact our Accountant at the last minute (literally) ... to have him look over our Turbo Tax mess that we tried to do on our own ...

as of a little bit ago ... we got a call stating that we owe a little over a $1,000 less than what we had conjured up on our own!

woo-hoo!!!!!!

Thank God and the Accountant

A funny "dumb" today ...

I decided to try a new recipe ... which ended up being an original ... since I was lacking two key ingredients that it called for ...

however ... it went well and we liked it with the replacement ingredients! And that's all that matters I guess ... that you please the palate of your family ...

anyhoo ... the "dumb" part ...

I asked my Mom if I could borrow her "NEW" crock pot ... mine's smaller and I wanted to try her new BIG one that she got ...

anyhoo ... "sure" was her reply ... so I haul the box in the house ... NOT paying attention to what it actually looks like on the outside of the box ... just that it was "something new" to play with!

SO ... remove it from the box ... noticing it was shut with only one piece of tape on one side ... mental note made but nothing registered ... then started to remove it from the box ... and noticed there was no lid on the top but just thought, it's somewhere else in the box ... moved along ... took it out and thought ... wow this is a bit dusty ... probably from the packaging it was packed in ...

and of course I always wash anything new before using ... so moved it over to the sink and removed the pot from the crock (or whatever) and when I laid the pot in the sink to start washing I glanced over at the "crock" part and noticed it was dirty - like food had been cooked and spilled over into it ...

WHAT?!?!? how dumb is that? I thought Mom said this was new ...

hmmm ... maybe she used it and forgot she had ... she IS medicated ...ha! (big joke right now ... that's her crutch for everything - "I'm medicated")

so I thought ... well ... before I use this thing, I need to wipe that out ... so I started cleaning the inside of the "crock" part and as I was cleaning, turned it around to the back ...

AND ... the whole back is caved in and THEN notice it's not even sitting in it's base properly ... it can't because it's broken!!!!!

WHAT?!?!?!?!

Back to the box to look at it ...

NO LID ... anywhere ... AND ... it's white ... the box (that I didn't notice before) pictured a Stainless Steel crock pot that was a WHOLE different model and make than what was sitting on my counter top ...

WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!?!

And poor "medicated" Mom thought it was a GREAT deal ... for $49.99 on sale from $69

Okay ...

Some dumb idiot (sorry) ... packaged up their wedding gift crock pot from 20 years ago, with no lid and dented in and packaged it back up in a "different" box and returned it to the store ...

probably the week after Christmas when the checkout lady was way TOO busy to actually open the box and CHECK to make sure there was indeed a crock pot enclosed ... it could have been a box of rocks!

Hmmm ... what does this tell me?

Some dumb idiot ACTUALLY got away with this ... and is probably at home RIGHT NOW ... rummaging through his garage or who knows ... the neighbor's trash ... looking for JUNK to box up and return to the unassuming DUMB BLOND at register #1 ... only to leave with BRAND NEW items ... which means ... innocent "medicated" Mom's will come along and purchase neighbor's junk ... and WHO KNOWS ... might even give it as a gift!

Can you imagine?

If Mom had purchased that as a gift and gave it to someone for their wedding?

Oh My Goodness ...

dying thinking about it ...

Anyhoo ... she was SO upset ... that her and my aunt and cousin got in the car and drove back to Rivergate to return it ...

Can't WAIT to hear what they say ... my "fear" was that now that this box was actually going to be opened up in front of the DUMB BLOND at register #1, that she might think that MOM rummaged around in her garage or in the neighbor's trash to try and "pull one over" on her and NOT believe her ...

oh my ...

only my family ... only my life ... only me.

There are SO many details I leave out about my crazy life ... I seriously don't think anyone would believe them all!

ha!

Sprinkle Wishes On My Monsoon ...

thanks Allison for the "sprinkle wishes" ...

however ... my monsoon got worse this evening ...

just when you think ... "nothing else" ... you find out ...

you have to PAY taxes instead of getting a return!

yep ...

not a fun evening at the Batson household!

BUT ...

my "sprinkle wishes" for tomorrow ... happened this evening

... this is how I found LeAnna this evening when I came upstairs to the bonus room ...

yep ...

my evening just got better ...

I actually laughed out loud and then ran for my camera ...
guess she was "feeling my monsoon"

ha - gotta love it!

happy evening ... and better day tomorrow ... tammy

Just "A Day" ...

only one comment today ...

"When it rains ... it pours" ....

and today ...

It's a monsoon!

Three Years ...

Today is a special day ...

Three years ago today, LeAnna had open heart surgery ...
Her "window" was closed.

Yep ... I still remember ... and reflect how far we've come in three years. LeAnna is doing GREAT! And we are SO blessed and thankful that all is well.

She continues to have annual check-ups and will for the rest of her life. Her last check-up was a great report ... and we are just so thankful.

Throughout the day today, I've stopped and had "thoughts" of our day three years ago ...

it was a very scary day ... one of anticipation ... and waiting ... hoping and praying.
I also remember the day sort of "floating" by ... we know it was the prayers of our family and friends that was carrying us through that tough day.

I try SO hard not to think about what actually happened that day, but to reflect on the "result" of that day ...

Thank God we had such special people that were there that day with us ... and I have thought about those people throughout the day today ... and how thankful we are for family and friends.

I've had a rather busy day ... this was Kindergarten Graduation Portrait weekend ... and I'm just finishing up ... so that's kept my mind really occupied ...

but ... my thoughts still drifted to "that day".

I'm so glad it's all over and that we chose to do it when we did .... she still remembers alot about it ... and will ask questions here and there ... and will want to know why they fixed her heart.

She knows she is a special girl and has a special heart ... and we are so grateful for our LeAnna Rachel ...

Once again, I am so sorry ... I just couldn't resist ... my extreme apologies to Allison who admitted to spending a little extra time towards this effort ...

Find the man's head!

This is SO weird ...

Find the Man's Head within 3 seconds and you're a genius!

READ THIS FIRST!

According to medical experiments:

If you can find the Man's Head within 3 seconds, your right brain is more developed than normal people.

If you can find the Man's Head within 1 minute, your right brain is developed normally.

If you can find the Man's Head within 1-3 mintues, your right brain is slow in reacting, you should eat more meat protein.

If you can find the Man's Head in 3 minutes or more, your right brain is a disaster... extremely slow in reacting, the only suggeestion is please watch cartoons to help normally develop your right brain.

Lucky Number Six ...

Unimportant Things About Me ...

1. True. I really did have a riding lawn mower and push mower ... my Granddad was a "fix-it" man and his shop was always full of stuff that he was either working on or collecting! So he kept me in business! ha! and yes ... I did cut grass ... I was a TOTAL tomboy!

2. True. My dad bought me an old Model-T car and until I was old enough he had to drive me around in it ... it was a small "replica" that had a go-cart engine ... that was my riding toy compared to today's Dora jeeps and Barbie corvettes! And we did dress up and use it for Sunday School ... clown suits, balloons ... we definitely got the attention of the Sunday School kids.

3. True. I don't just "like" clocks ... I LOVE them! They are ALL over my house ... my guest bathroom is even decorated with a clock theme ... there are clocks on the walls, pictures of clocks on the walls and there is a sign laying on the counter top that says, "tick tock, tick tock, time's a wastin' " ... if you think about that one for a minute, it might bring a smile knowing it's in the bathroom! Or maybe it's my weird, contorted mind that has conjured up a funny about that ... who knows!

4. True. I cut my finger on the glass window of a stove when I was 3. It has always given me fits ... to the point that my Mom offered to pay for plastic surgery - 1. because she has always blamed her self for it happening and ... 2. she knew it bothered me so much. No one ever pays attention to it I found out - ha! PLUS, it is usually hidden at all times - well, when I'm feeling conscious about it.

5. True. I attended an event at the home of Sylvia Roberts, where George W. and Laura (we're on a first name basis now) had a fundraiser. They raised over a million dollars that evening ... it was a once in a lifetime event to remember.

6. FALSE. I Do NOT like riding REALLY big roller coasters ... I have, in my lifetime, ridden lots of coasters ... but have an aversion to really big ones ... however, it is true that with the eye issues, I have been told not to ride them. Wow ... one "good" thing about the eye issues ... I now have an "excuse" for my aversion.

7. True. My dad REALLY did tie a string around my tooth and a door knob and slam the door ... it worked ... the tooth came out ... it should have - at the time it was torture ... but we laughed about it later!

8. True. I was on the Bozo show for my fifth birthday. I was so excited about it ... talked about it for days ... THEN ... we got there ... taped all five shows in one evening ... and besides a few things about the show, about the only thing that stands out in my mind ... was the little girl next to me THREW UP on television EVERYWHERE ... I will NEVER forget it ... I can still smell it and see it! AAHHHHHHHHH .... she had spaghetti with macaroni noodles in it ... Oh My Goodness ... I'm telling you ... I still remember ... I remember the lights being really hot shining on us, standing on bleacher type stands ... and she "lost it" literally ... on TV!!! haahahhahaha ... oh my ... I remember having to get up at like 7am to watch it every morning that week ... we didn't have Tivo back then!

9. True. I really like the color black ... especially to wear ... many reasons for it ... we won't go there ... ha!

10. True. If you know me well at all ... you KNOW I like to smell things ... and actually I think I have a pretty good smeller ... I can smell a drink without tasting it and tell you what kind it is. That's probably no big deal, thus the reason it's listed here with "unimportant things about me".
(thanks Allison for my really cool sign picture that you found for me - I love it!!!)

thanks for participating in the fun ... I've enjoyed reading "other bloggers" who are participating ...

Ten UNimportant Things About Me ...

I was challenged from another blog that I read ...

to list unimportant things about myself ... but one of them is NOT true ... and you have to figure out which one is not true ...

1. When I was a preteen, I had my own riding lawn mower and push mower.

2. I had a Model-T car with a go-cart engine that my Dad and I dressed up like clowns and used for Sunday School.

3. I like clocks.

4. I got a bad cut on my finger at age 3 and the cuticle has never grown back, and the nail grows out bumpy - and I'm VERY embarrassed by it.

5. I've been to an event and spoken with the President and Mrs. Bush.

6. I like riding really big roller coasters, but can't anymore due to my eye issues.

7. When I was a child, my dad tied a string around a lose tooth and the other end to a door knob, and then slammed the door!

8. I was on the Bozo TV show for five days when I turned five.

9. My favorite color to "wear" is black.

10. I smell everything.

Leave me a comment and list which "#" you think is NOT true ... I will reveal the answer in a later post ... AND I am challenging YOU to do the same on your blog ...

A Focused Pfunky Time ...

Yesterday was a great day ...

... it all started with breakfast at the Pfunky Griddle with a group of girls who got together for Jennifer's birthday ... we had a great "pfunky" time!

here's a few pics ...

... afterwards ...

Nathan and I spent the afternoon together shopping ... and then dinner at Sambuca's in downtown Nashville. GREAT food!!!! Wow!

it was such a pleasant day ... I didn't want it to end ...

it is SO rare when we get to go out ... with NO agenda ... NO rush ... NO where else to be ... and just spend quality time together ... he and I took off yesterday ... so it was very nice to just RELAX!!!! The focus was just US and reminiscing of our 16 years ...
Nate had roses sent to the house ...
Sambuca's ...
Today ...
LeAnna stayed at Granny's house from Thursday night until this morning (Saturday) ... even though I had just gone to the Pfunky Griddle on Friday morning ... Nate had never been and LeAnna was dying to go after hearing me talk about it ... so we decided to go for breakfast this morning ... we went to pick her up this morning and Dawson was so upset that she was leaving ... so we took him with us!
They really enjoyed themselves! And loved making pancakes!

wouldn't you know ... the only pic of LeAnna and I and she would have her tongue sticking out! oh well ... we all had a Pfunky good time!

Nate gave me some more Le Creuset and I am so very happy ... more for my collection!

I gave him a 32gb iPod touch ... he was OVERwhelmed and so very shocked!!!

And together ... we purchased a print for our bonus room from Z Galleries ... slowly but surely we're getting the bonus room like we want it ...

... one realization from the last two days ...

spending quality time together is SO very important ... not that all of your time together is not quality, but when you have that "focused quality" time together ... it helps you to connect again ...

I find it easy sometimes, to get in a RUT for lack of a better term ... but it's true ... we rush here, rush there ... and somewhere you meet in the middle in the busy of the day long enough to exchange quick hello's, goodbye's, love you's, and necessary info that must be discussed ...

it's crazy sometimes ... but it's true ... and it takes days such as an Anniversary to slow you down, if but for 24 hours, to reconnect again ... and realize that you really are on the same page (in case you forgot) ... and GET on the same page if you're not! ... ha!

Another BIG reason Nathan and I decided several years ago ... how VERY important it was to us as a family unit to MAKE SURE we had a family vacation every year ... for the sake of "connection" and "keeping connected"! I had this growing up and it still, to this day, brings back SO many sweet memories of my time with Mom and Dad that I can retrieve at any given moment and reflect on the "good times" when I'm missing my Dad so much ... SO very thankful my Mom and Dad made this happen for "our" family unit of 3! And we want LeAnna to experience the same ... I'm learning more and more every day to NEVER take any one person ... or opportunity ... or special moment for granted ...because ... you just never know ...

happy day ... tammy

Sweet Sixteen ...

Us … we’ve come a long way baby!

We’ve had ups … downs … all arounds … but through every up and down we’ve had along the way, we’ve had sixteen years of US!

Where do you begin on thoughts of elaborating today …

words … simple words, that hold great meaning behind each letter.

Here are a few words I think of when thinking of my Mate – Nate!

Strong – I’ve seen you at your strongest … and I’ve seen you when everyone else thought you were strong, when you were really falling apart on the inside – yet no one knew but the very few closest to you.

Character – You have proven your character … I’ve seen you when everyone else sees you and I’ve seen you when it’s just you and me. I admire your tenacity in what you believe.

Provider – You have, without fail, always provided … when we had it and when we didn’t … you still provided.

Love – You have proven true love to me. On days when I didn’t even love myself, you still loved me and not only told me but showed me … and at the same time helped me love myself again … and again …

Passion - I love your passion for whatever it is you do. Whether playing an instrument, preaching, helping someone in need, working out at the gym, playing ball or family time with LeAnna and me. You dedicate yourself to it – and do it!

Endurance – whether I’m running late (according to you, that’s very often) or not completing a task as fast as you think I should – you are very patient with me. I think it’s because I have so many irons in the fire, it seems I’m always late and slow about completing tasks … when in reality I am constantly running everywhere I go!

Reality – You have a way of always bringing me back to “reality” … and on another thought about this word, a “reality buff” … reality TV and People, Us and In Touch magazines … and you LOVE to be in the know when it comes to reality!

Parenting – You are such a good father to LeAnna. She respects you and wants to please you all the time. Not only does she have you wrapped around her finger, she is wrapped around yours as well! I love watching you together … you can look at her just right and she’ll laugh out loud because she’s smiling so large … and you can also look at her just right and huge tears of shame stream down her face because she knows she has disappointed you. I’m glad we’re a team when it comes to parenting and I am thankful for our support system in each other.

I could go on and on … but these are just a few words that come to mind today.

I know that I would marry you again … and … I am so thankful for you … not just today but every day that makes up US!

I love you,
Tammy

La Vie ...

Okay ... so ... I found a new magerzine today (LeAnna's term for magazine at the age of 2)

I am SO ... so ... WOW ... about this mag right now!

Man ... way cool ...

it's called ...

La Vie Claire
the art of living a creative life
—the clear life—
celebrating lives lived with passion,
places that inspire,
experiences that expand,
homes and settings that fulfill a vision.

It is so inspiring ... so ... takes me to where each page is talking about ... the photography is incredible ...

I'm just impressed ... can you tell?

yep ...

SO FAR ... I've scanned through the whole mag ... catching highlights here and there and looking at every picture ...

now ... can't wait to go back and indulge myself in a few of the articles ...

woo-hoo ...

okay ... enough about all that!

Today ... I took lunch to LeAnna at 10:30 (which ended up being my "blunch" since it was my first meal of the day ...

when I got there ... she said ... "the teacher tried calling you for underwear"

WHAT??!?!?!?!

she had a bit of an accident ...

diarrhea

yep ...

she had it yesterday ... but we thought it was just nerves from the play performance ...

she didn't have a fever ... didn't feel bad ...

so ... this morning ... she seemed fine ... and then poof! hahahahahahahha

oh well ...

still ... no fever ... just diarrhea ... so ... she came home at 11am today ...

and she seems fine ... who knows ...

I think maybe her tummy might have gotten messed up after our dinner on Tuesday night ... we shared a meal and our meal wasn't too good ... I have felt a little icky at my stomach as well ... but have been okay ...

and she only goes to the bathroom right after she eats ... so I'm thinking it was something she ate ...

who knows ... and ... she's out of school tomorrow for parent/teacher conference ... so a nice 3-day weekend for her!

.....

Sixteen years ago this evening ... we had our wedding rehearsal dinner ... we talked about it some tonight ...

it's hard to believe it's been 16 years! Tomorrow is our 16th anniversary ... woo-hoo! And is Nate going to be surprised when he sees what his "old lady" got him! I know ... I'm such a tease ... hi Nate ... I know you're reading this and dying because you don't know what it is yet!!!!

oh well ... have to wait!
This May 19th ... will be 20 YEARS together ... well ... we went out for the first time ... which also means IF I was having a High School Reunion ... it would be my 20th!

EEEKKKKK ... that sounds horrible coming out of my mouth ... 20 years?! Hard to believe ... hard to even say it ... inevitably getting older!
oh well ... better than the alternative!

happy day ... tammy

Jesus is Born! Moo ...

Today was LeAnna's bible play at school ...

She was nervous this morning ... but she did fine ... I told her that there were 41 other kids doing the "same thing" this morning and probably had the same butterflies in their tummy's!

It really was a cute play ... and I think the kid who played Jesus was the funniest - he was supposed to perform the miracle of "stopping the wind" while on the boat ... so he said, Peace Be Still" and when the sound man made the thunder crash again , he looked up in the sky and got this funny look on his face and had the whole place cracking up! ... too cute!

Anyhoo ... LeAnna was a cow at Jesus' birth ... her line, that she diligently practiced EVERYDAY, because she was asked to, for the last month ... "he is the cutest baby I've ever seen" ...

she came home once parts were assigned and said, "Mom, I'm a cow in the play and I have a speaking part - but cows don't talk!, I don't get it!" ....

funny ...

buddies ...

Granny and Nana ...
Aunt Betty and Nena ...
Papaw and Daddy were also there ... Papaw had already gone to the car and Daddy left early to get to work ... so we didn't get their pictures ...

but, LeAnna was so excited with her "fan club"!

Family Night's ...

On Monday nights we have family night ... usually we eat "simple" and play games as a family ...
Nathan promised LeAnna that we would do family night "out" yesterday ... and if it was sunny we would play miniature golf ... if it rained we would go bowling.
It was sunny (but cool and windy we found out later) so we went golfing!

There is a "very convenient" but very run down play center close to the house ... so after we ate "simple" at the house (hamburgers on hotdog buns - because "I forgot" to pick up buns) we ran over and played golf.

LeAnna was SO excited! She didn't care that it was run down or that we were the only ones actually there playing golf! It just mattered that we were all there as as family - and we all felt that way!

We had a great time ...

this was interesting ...

Nate's ball ...
Nate's ball in the water ...
Nate's ball still in the water ...

what was REALLY interesting ... is that LeAnna played better than either of us! And we used to be so good at miniature golf! - ha!

oh well ...

it was a fun evening ...

Today is Jennifer's birthday ...

Happy Birthday Jen!

... the family met for dinner at Old Hickory Grill ... dinner was great ... well - the fellowship was great ... my dinner wasn't all that great ... another story ... =0)

here are a few pics ...

This was SO cute ... Dawson gave Jenn her gift ... she opened it up and it was Alvin and the Chipmunks DVD! ha! too cute! ... gotta love the gifts that the kids pick out!

Our kids are growing up WAY TOO stinkin' fast!!!!! NOT liking that part ... but SO happy to indulge in every moment!!!!!

happy day ... tammy
